I just got this book and started reading it and I am hooked already!!!! The book just came out this morning and I don't know how the two reviewer before me have already finished reading it and put up a reveiw??? I don't believe that person even read the book. This book reads so well from the beginning and I can't wait till I finish it! I didn't know Wesley Snipes had such talent to write a book like this but I guess his film experience would've given him plenty to write about. The portrayal of scenes are really cinematic and realistic. I can totally relate to the female lead character Lauryn from the gako and I am sure there are many out there who can relate to her like I do. I am really looking forward to the romance, adventure and spiritual all mashed up in this book! Anyway, I will read this on and will get back with more review! So-far, I highly recommend this book!
Fantastic read! I was initially quite skeptic as it was written by a movie star...and this was his first fiction writing at that. On top of it, it was written by two different authors...it felt like having two captains on a single boat. However, I was intrigued at the same time for the same reasons above so I had to find out about it myself and I'm absolutely glad I did it. All my concerns quickly diminished. I first went through Talon of God via Audible audiobook which was exceptionally well narrated. As it's almost twelve hours long, I was planning on taking a couple of hours a day on this title. However, it was near impossible to do so as there was always another suspense around each corner. Perhaps I'm biassed of the fact the Wesley Snipes is a movie star but that surely helped me visualize the reading and my mind was creating mega blockbuster movie scenes as the passionate narrations went on. I just purchased the Kindle version of it so I can actually read it as it was originally intended by the authors. If I wasn't told there were two authors for this title, I wouldn't have known it. Story flows flawlessly and quickly just like Wesley's martial arts skills.
Who knew Blade was a doctor? A quick google search shows it is honorary.I bought this book from one of those cheap Kindle daily emails. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I have liked most of his movies and thought it was worth a few bucks.I have to say, I love this book. It is engaging, exciting, quick to read, and hard to put down. Mr. Snipes and his ghost writer, Ray Norman, have put together a really good modern day paranormal thriller.The story follows Dr. Lauryn Jefferson, an actual medical doctor, daughter of a Baptist minister, and self-proclaimed non-believer. After attempting to help one of the many Chicago homeless from what appears to be a drug overdose with psychotic overtones, Lauryn is paired with Talon, a holy warrior carrying a sword. We have to assume this is the part that Snipes will play in the film adaptation.This book is full of Christian scripture, which is used to good effect. It is full of action, but isn't gratuitously gory. It does contain some drug use, but unlike many novels, it shows drug use for the problem that it is.I look forward to the next installment, and the movie if it is ever made.
Let me say first that this might have been the first piece of expicitly Christian fiction that I have ever voluntarily read cover to cover in my life. And now let me say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Like other reviewers have mentioned, Talon of God is written in an explicitly cinematic manner. It's as though you could tell the authors were envisioning the movie as they were putting the story together.Snipes and Norman are a very good team. For this to be their first novel, they certainly struck lightning. Those complaining about the dialogue must not have grown up in the church. If you have, everything in here sounds exactly like what you've grown used to hearing, which is part of why this book is just so comforting to read.Whether you are strong in any faith or not, a Christian or not (and I'm not at all sure how I would define myself), what I can say is that this is an incredibly well-written story. Dr. Jefferson, the main character, evolves over the course of the book, as good protagonists are wont to do.While messages of faith abound, the primary commitment here is towards advancing a narrative and telling a good story. And that is what the authors do well. The descriptions are exciting and the plot moves at a good speed. It's been a while since I was motivated to finish a book this quickly. I certainly hope this gets made into a movie.
I enjoyed Talon of God; it started off in the beginning with action and ended with action. Something; I like when I pick an action read. I want to actually read action and drama throughout the book.Talon, is one of Gods warriors, he fights evil, and of course the devil, and demons. Talon could be slow at times, but I had the feeling that this was how the writers wanted him. I don’t mean slow as in knowledge or comprehension. I mean slow as in giving you the information you want to read. I felt Lauryn’s pain at times when it seemed as if he was talking in riddles, the riddles got on my nerves a bit.I like my characters to be more- straight (forward) especially, when they want something from you or when they say they are trying to tell you something. Why not just come out with it? Lauryn is a skeptic to a certain point when it comes to religion; she grew up with a father that nurtured his congregation more than his children. I think any child would have issues dealing with that type of situation. I didn’t think that she had lost her faith in a higher power. I felt that she had lost her faith in her father.This was a good read and a pleasant surprise! I’m glad that I purchased the print copy so that it can go on my shelf, it looks good there too. I can’t wait for the next part.
